During a family dinner at the Original Ninfa's in Houston, Texas (on Navigation), someone shared their Top 10 Movie list. It was quite the topic of conversation with agreements and other favorites/suggestions thrown into the mix.
It got me thinking of all the times I've wanted to jot down my personal favorites, not necessarily to share with anyone, but as a resource for myself! There are so many good movies...
Having a list is handy for me when I want to watch something I know is good but NEED that reminder.
I started with compiling all the movies I love at of the top of my head. Then, did a sweeping internet search to fill in what I couldn't recall. After that, I was able to extract a solid Top 15 but for the sake of sharing with my family, whittled the list to a Top 10!
Since this is a place for me to share my personal insights, musings, curated favorites, etc. sharing this list with all of you is right on theme!
This list is flexible and may be changed/updated. I feel like I've forgotten some hidden gem that totally deserves a place on my Top list! Just a feeling...
And instead of going through each of these 10 movies, I'll instead throw in all my Honorable Mentions plus the FULL, unedited list I started with. Don't stay tuned, but I may return for a run-down of each! But do watch the trailers for one's you haven't yet seen from my list. Just click on the movie title for YouTube link!
I will say this one thing about my No. 1 selection: Nearly everyone at that dinner agreed that Lord of the Rings, in its trilogy entirety, was on their Top Movie list. Dare I claim that it's the perfect story? I dare. It will remain a classic for all of time. And for that, we thank you J.R.R. Tolkien.

The Matrix, 1999
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, 1975
The Secret Garden, 1993
Hook, 1991

Perhaps this will inspire you to create your own personal go-to list! Especially for the times when we're all mindlessly scrolling through Netflix or *insert other streaming service* and can't seem to find a good selection of any kind. One of the cons of endless choices (and not very good ones at that).
We are our very best resources. And no one knows what's best quite like you!
What's on your Top 10?
THE Grand Budapest Hotel in her golden days. A visual and story telling Wes Anderson masterpiece.
